Hoe neem je contact op met een website-eigenaar over een beveiligingsprobleem?

Beveiligingsprobleem gevonden op een website gehost door Mijndomein?

Goed dat je hier iets mee wilt doen! Wij zijn de hostingprovider van deze websites, maar hebben geen directe toegang tot de inhoud of beveiligingsinstellingen van de websites van onze klanten. Daarom is het belangrijk dat je direct contact opneemt met de eigenaar van de website om het probleem te melden.

Hier zijn een aantal manieren om de juiste contactgegevens te vinden:

1. Controleer de WHOIS-gegevens (voor .nl-domeinen)

Voor .nl-domeinnamen kun je via SIDN’s Whois-tool opzoeken welk e-mailadres geregistreerd staat bij de domeinnaamhouder. Dit is vaak de snelste manier om direct in contact te komen met de eigenaar van de website.

Voor sommige andere domeinnaam extensies (zoals .com, .org, .net) kan een vergelijkbare WHOIS-opzoeking worden gedaan, maar houd er rekening mee dat contactgegevens soms afgeschermd zijn door privacybescherming.

2. Bekijk de contactgegevens op de website zelf

Veel websites hebben een contactpagina met e-mailadressen, een contactformulier of een telefoonnummer. Controleer:

  1. De contactpagina (vaak te vinden in het menu of in de footer van de website).
  2. De privacyverklaring of algemene voorwaarden (soms staan hierin een e-mailadres of de adresgegevens vermeld).
  3. De footer onderaan de website (sommige websites plaatsen hier hun contactgegevens)

3. Zoek de eigenaar via Google of Google Maps

Onze klanten zijn grotendeels ondernemers of bedrijven. Als de website zelf geen contactgegevens toont, kun je proberen:

  1. De bedrijfsnaam in Google te zoeken om te kijken of er contactgegevens in een bedrijfsprofiel staan.
  2. Op Google Maps te zoeken of het bedrijf daar vermeld staat met een telefoonnummer of e-mailadres.

4. Check social media of andere online profielen

Sommige bedrijven of organisaties zijn actief op platforms zoals LinkedIn, Facebook of Instagram. Soms kun je via een privébericht contact opnemen en de eigenaar attenderen op het beveiligingsprobleem.

5. Gebruik een professioneel contactkanaal

Als de website-eigenaar een webbureau of IT-partner heeft, kan het nuttig zijn om via hen een melding te maken. Dit kan bijvoorbeeld via de technische contactpersoon in de WHOIS-gegevens (indien zichtbaar) of door te zoeken naar een IT-partner die op de website genoemd wordt.

Have you found a security issue on a website hosted by Mijndomein?

Great that you want to report it! We are the hosting provider for many websites, but we do not have access to the content or security settings of our customers’ websites. This means that if you find a security vulnerability, you should contact the website owner directly.

Here are some ways to find the right contact details:

1. Check WHOIS Information (for .nl domains)

For .nl domains, you can use SIDN’s Whois tool to look up the email address registered to the domain owner. This is often the quickest way to contact the website owner directly.

For some other domain extensions (such as .com, .org, .net), you may also be able to perform a WHOIS lookup, but keep in mind that contact details may be hidden due to privacy protection.

2. Look for contact information on the website

Many websites provide contact details on a dedicated Contact Page. You can check:

  1. The contact page (often found in the menu or footer of the website).
  2. The privacy policy or terms & conditions (sometimes an email address or physical address is listed here).
  3. The footer at the bottom of the website (some websites display their contact details there).

3. Search for the owner via Google or Google Maps

Many of our customers are entrepreneurs or businesses. If the website itself does not list contact details, you can try:

  1. Searching the business name on Google to see if there is a company profile with contact details.
  2. Checking Google Maps to see if the company is listed with a phone number or email address.

4. Check social media or other online profiles

Some businesses or organizations are active on platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, or Instagram. You may be able to contact the owner via a direct message and inform them about the security issue.

5. Use a professional contact channel

If the website owner works with a web agency or IT provider, they may have a technical contact person. You can check:

  1. The WHOIS records for a technical contact email (if available).
  2. The website itself to see if a web developer or IT partner is mentioned.
